Meet Ken Engler
I am running because I love being a conservative, I love being a part of a prosperous Alberta that provides opportunity and dignity to all, and I love being part of the UCP. I want to work with all of you to help the UCP form Government in Alberta in 2027 so our shared conservative values can be advanced for the next four years.
This is the last AGM before the 2027 general election. The Board elected this weekend will be the one that the UCP members have entrusted to work collaboratively with our Leader Premier Danielle Smith, our caucus, our candidates, our staff, our campaign team and our Members to win a majority government in the 2027 general election.
Where Ken Stands
Here is what Ken brings to the table as the UCP CFO.
proven election winner
I was CFO of the UCP for our 2023 election victory, am a proven winner with a 6-0 election record while working with Premier Smith and the UCP and am an established, valued, veteran teammate who has always come through in high-stakes situations. I’ve been in war rooms and won high stake elections, multiple times.
Fiscal competence
I have been a Chartered Accountant since 1993. As CFO, I will be entrusted with a current bank balance of Members' donations of over $10MM. I will ensure that the UCP continues the professional financial management and best practices operational procedures that I helped solidify during my last CFO term and that Members' donations continue to be respected and used prudently.
Defeat the ndp
I will lead the process with the UCP team to develop an aggressive pre-writ budget focusing on election strategy and messaging to set the table for the writ call. For the writ period election spending, I will ensure that adequate funds are in place at the time of the writ drop so the UCP can spend to the legislated maximums for both the party and for every candidate in a contested riding during the 2027 writ period.
grassroots accountability
I believe in 360-degree organizational accountability where every level of an organization holds every other level accountable as per the grassroots philosophy of the UCP. All Board Members have a duty to act collaboratively, professionally and with a high duty of care and ensure that they only take actions that lead to a 2027 election victory. All Board Members must be ready to be accountable for their performance at all times to their fellow Board Members, our Leader, our caucus, our candidates, our staff, our campaign team and most importantly our Members.
